Race and Ethnicity: Race and ethnicity is very evident in this film. There are so many different race's and so many different ethnicity's in the movie. A lot of this film was based around the time of segregation. For example in the beginning of the movie it talks about the ku klux klan. And there are a lot of racial slurs towards African American people in the film as well. One part during the movie Forrest was at a protest on whether or not African Americans should be able to go to the same school with white people. There were many whites at the protest that were completely against it. But one African American woman accidentally dropped her book on the way into the school and Forrest went and picked it up for her. The other whites at the protest just couldn't believe that he did that, but Forrest wasn't simple minded like they were and didn't care about what race they were. There was another part in the movie where Forrest Gump attended a black panther party with his friend. Race and ethnicity in this film was a major thing because the film was based around the time of segregation and right after segregation so I think it was a great movie to show examples of race and ethnicity.
